Online, paying still means typing sixteen digits and clicking Pay. We wanted the gesture we make at the counter instead: hold your card to the reader, wait for the beep.

How it works

Every digit you type is laser-engraved into a metal card. Confirm, and the sensitive digits are masked; hover the CVC to check it. Then drag the card to the terminal and hold it: four lights, a beep, Payment approved.

Why the real world

Tapping a card is a gesture we repeat every week, so it needs no explanation. Four lights and a beep say done more clearly than any spinner. We even kept Card removed too soon, because recognition is a kind of delight.

Who it is for

Banks, fintechs launching a card, and any brand that wants its checkout to feel like a moment, not a form. Our test card, 4242 4242 4242 4242, has never been declined.
